I was born in South Africa, lived in Kenya, Egypt, Morocco, England before moving to the US for my undergraduate studies. I have a BA in Biochemistry, MA in Cell Biology and former MD/Ph.D. (Molecular Cell Biology) trainee at Washington University in St. Louis . I have taught biological sciences and physical sciences and Math classes for over 10 years. My teaching style is first to identify the knowledge gaps in a student, and then lead them to fill in the gap by using the Socratic method . I emphasize conceptual mastery over content mastery. Once I identify the learning style of my student, I develop a customized lesson plan and study schedule tailored to it. My goal is to empower the student to think more independently and critically, and my biggest reward is when do eventually.
I have taught MCAT (both old and new MCAT) classes for over 10 years, both privately and when I previously worked for test prep companies Kaplan and Princeton. I have had over 200 students and who are compliant with the personalized schedule I design average 512.5 or better. My main strategy (besides timing which is the MOST important on the MCAT), is getting students to think more about the "how" and "why", and less of the "what". The MCAT is critical thinking exam and my goal is to get every student to internalize the material and apply it conceptually.
