Certified Tutor

I've had such a wonderful experience in the music world, completing a Master of Music degree in Instrumental Performance at the University of North Texas, as well as a Master's degree in music theory from the University of Akron.
Music is an art form that I have a deep passion for. It is my goal for each student that they find their passion with music in their own way. With my education and guidance, I can provide the tools and know-how to build a foundation of playing that will be enriching for you or your children - because it was the result of your own hard work and commitment.
The key to healthy progress in lessons is good and efficient practicing and repetition outside of lessons. We will put together a solid curriculum based on your abilities, and include any performances you have scheduled to be the most prepared as possible for those occasions. Structure and measurable progress are very important to me as a pedagogue.
We all love music. Why not learn your favorite song? I am happy to work with whatever a student would like to play; be it a sonata, concerto, or ensemble work and even a pop song or two! I want to make my student's experience enjoyable and worthwhile. I will also provide a solid structured lesson, utilizing the method books and etudes that you would encounter in the real world.
Moreover, this is a safe space for you as my student to try new things without judgment or harsh criticism. This is your opportunity to set and reach your personal goals and artistic aspirations!
To sum up, I have the mastery and experience of playing in a variety of highly regarded positions both academically and professionally, being exposed to several different cultural styles of playing, as a result of my own time working with world famous musicians. Finally, after all is said and done, music should be fun. And I am here to provide whatever teaching style you prefer. In time, you can learn music as a beautiful language that few can tap into, but all can enjoy.

Hobbies

If you were to ask any one of my friends what my favorite hobby is, it would be PC gaming. I also have built my own computer from scratch and enjoy the success of that. I also like to hike in the woods in the beautiful forests of Oregon, where I live. as well as improvising on the piano. Improvising and composing on piano has helped me immensely with understanding music theory on a granular level. Walks on the beach with my 2 dogs is always a relaxing way to get out of the house. My eclectic and quirky hobbies are what make me who I am.
