I'm a certified teacher with over 20 years of experience teaching all ages. I have a degree in Elementary Education from BYU. I'm passionate about fostering a love of learning in others. I feel strongly that every student can develop a growth mindset and that that will be the foundation for their future success.

My husband and I have 5 children ages 12-23. Each of them have had their unique struggles with learning. Over the years, my experience with helping them overcome learning differences, ADHD, high-functioning autism, sensory disorders, etc. has helped me be a more skilled teacher and tutor. I understand the struggles of the student who has to spend inordinate amounts of time studying when others whip through their assignments with ease.

Every student has a different learning style. Some need visual and auditory experiences to learn. Others need to move and do. I'm proficient in cool online tools that allow me to get the student involved with math manipulatives and interactive annotations.

Hobbies

I have a lot of hobbies, but I cycle through doing them according to how much time I have. I love gardening, raising chickens and fixing things when they break. I love swimming, hiking, and mountain biking. Music is part of my soul. I love to play the piano and sing. I have basic experience in ukulele, clarinet, and saxophone. I love to make infographics and printables for my classes. I use Photoshop Elements to make digital scrapbooks. I have a Rubiks cube collection. I can solve the 3x3 in 1 min 29 seconds. I love to sew, papercraft, and bake. I guess all this is the result of loving learning and being persistent through many mistakes!
