Certified Tutor

During my time as a teacher, my vision was that all of my students succeed, if they were struggling, it wasn't through lack of effort on their behalf but more like, I had not found the right way of getting the message across. All students learn in different ways and it was my job as a teacher to find that and provide lessons they could engage with.
On retirement and developing my tutoring services, I continued to use the same techniques and strategies to help my students learn.
During my career, I was observed by Ofsted many times, as a teacher and Head of Department, and was always being given outstanding.

Tutoring Experience
I was a teacher/head of department for 20 years.
I specialised in Chemistry A level and GCSE, with Physics and Biology at GCSE and all Sciences at Key Stage 3.
In three years as a tutor, I have completed over 1000 hours, tutoring over 100 students all of which, have achieved expected or better than expected grades.

Tutoring Approach
My tutoring approach is quite simple. Children are individuals and have different learnings needs. It is important in any form of education that these needs are addressed. Over many years I have developed my skills in adapting my teaching to meet the needs of the student. I have worked with many students with learning difficulties such as dyslexia.
At our initial meeting your child will complete an Existing Knowledge Checklist, which informs me of any weaknesses within the curriculum. Also during our meeting we can discuss your requirements and expectations of me. After the meeting I will then review the EKC and develop a bespoke programme of study which will include progress questions and homework
Students will have access to a website that will aid learning and revision.
