Certified Tutor

Hi there. I'm tutor Erin. Through my many experiences in the classroom teaching children to adults English as a second language in Japan and China, I am now excited to announce that I have shifted to becoming a mobile independent tutor. Rather it be online or in the San Francisco east bay area, I strive to give you excellent one on one tutoring in English. After my studying Japanese in college and living in Japan for five years, I have learned a great deal about Japan's language and culture. While I work as a freelance Japanese translator and have worked as a governmental liason between Japan and the US in the past, I still try to improve my Japanese on a daily basis today. I am planning on visiting Japan in the spring sometime in the future. I have a love for the flower viewing season in Japan. I am enamoured at the beauty that can be found in Japan's nature. When it comes to studying Japanese, I think student's should remember that even though the Japanese writing system has been romanized, the Chinese characters that are used are widely based off of depictions of picture symbols. For example, one cannot think about the flower viewing season in Japan without thinking about the kanji hanabi, which literally is a symbol of a flower and the eye, according to Chinese characters. I hope to have the opportunity to help you reach your goals in the future.
