Certified Tutor
As a recent graduate of University of Cincinnati's DAAP Art History program with a concentration in Video Art and Philosophy, I was awarded with the Cumma Sum Laude recognition (as a straight A/4.0 Student) and the Outstanding Student of the Year award. Thus, I believe that I, as a tutor, can fruitfully inspire students seeking to advance their collegiate prowess with fervid passion. I have extensive tutoring background as I worked for AmeriCorps Vista for eight months prior, tutoring students in middle and high school.
I will be pursuing my Master of Arts (M.A.) degree at Columbia University in New York City and am taking time prior to attending graduate school at Columbia in order to make a tangible change in the world of inspired young academics via tutorship.
I am a local columnist, and a peer-reviewed/published academic/lecturer. I have annually lectured at the University of Dayton's Reiss Symposium, where I have presented research in visual culture, new media theory, aesthetics and philosophy of art.
Furthermore, I have been a columnist for the literary and art criticism journal AEQAI, producing three articles a month. Here is a link to my author profile: http://aeqai.com/main/author/ekin1/
I would like to note that I am the only person below the age of 40 to write for AEQAI, as the editor/director selected me due to my excellent writing and analytic skills. Hence, my coworkers are composed of mostly University of Cincinnati professors. This is an accomplishment that I am rather proud of.
I have cultivated an extensive knowledge of high-quality teaching and learning experiences with my professional background. As evinced by my career as an AmeriCorps VISTA, I have utilized collaborative community commitment to strive for diverse programming that spans multi-disciplinary modes. I worked with a Rochester organization called Teen Empowerment, where I served as a tutor for high school juniors and seniors seeking to hone their reading and writing skills while also working on impending SAT, ACT, and SAT Subject texts. Having scored highly in these texts, I can provide key insight when it comes to standardized test-taking.
Furthermore, my law clerkship background at a Pittsburgh attorney during my first year in university provided me with invaluable grant-writing skills, and lexicon. At the same time, I worked as a tutor for students from lower socio-economic backgrounds.
I mention my variegated background to underscore that not only do I possess reading and writing comprehension skills as a university graduate who is a published academic, but emphasize the modicum of faculties that I have used this knowledge professionally.
I have beyond a working knowledge of MS Office Suite, as well as applications such as Photoshop, FinalCut, Premiere, and After Effects. Thus, I possess a multifaceted and variegated pool of knowledge re: organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with erudite attention to detail.
I believe that my knowledge as a theorist, artist, and my high-achievement in my studies well possess me to be an excellent tutor.
As a long-time lecturer for the University of Cincinnati Philosophy Club/philosophy student of logic, I possess logic-based approaches (integral to SAT/ACT test-taking) and articulate writing capabilities.
I have extensive background working with various youth groups, including teens during my AmeriCorps Vista career and as a volunteer at the physical and mental rehabilitation hospital "The Children's Institute" in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where I worked for four years.
As a literary arts major at a Creative and Performing Arts School in Pittsburgh, I eruditely studied this field for seven years. Thus, I have fostered scholarly knowledge in literary art movements, creative nonfiction, fiction, playwriting and screenwriting.
As an academic publisher, I am extremely familiar with the APA, MLA, Chicago, Turabian, and IEEE Works Cited and In-Text Citation styles.
I have an ardent and passionate aspiration to tutor students and aid them in a modicum of the aforementioned skills I possess, so as to pass along my knowledge and abilities to future generations. I aspire to being a PhD after completing my masters degree, so the tutoring roles mirror my personal zeal.
