Certified Tutor

As an English instructor at the University of Tulsa, Tulsa Community College, and high school teacher and private tutor, I have always enjoyed encouraging a love of reading, writing, and critical thinking in students of all ages. The passion for teaching comes from a love in showing every student, especially the ones who feel overwhelmed by English and writing, that they too already have the creative and imaginative tools in which to grow in these areas.
I have tutored high school students over the last decade in ACT/SAT prep, seeing each of my students increase the initial scores they wished to improve upon. At Tulsa Community College, I enjoyed the privilege of teaching a variety of specific subjects, be it in preliminary courses like Reading and Writing, as well as the Freshmen English composition.
In short, I have decades of experience in assisting students at all stages in the English curriculum. My main talent lies in making the sometimes intimidating subject of English less so for the individual.
I have a laid-back and down-to-earth style that helps students to be comfortable in realizing that they harbor more skills in reading and writing than they previously thought. I like to find the particular passions that drive each individual student in his or her life, and use those as a gateway in which to let them see how English and reading and critical thinking applies to these areas.
In the end, students of all ages come away from my tutorials armed not only with more tools in skillfully navigating (test) subjects concerning reading and writing, but more importantly, a newfound confidence when it comes to embracing such fields in the future.
