Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of Austin College. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology with an Art minor. I received my high school diploma from Plano Senior High. I am seeking to pursue a career in the medical field in the future. I was a Peer Tutor in Biology/Chemistry and Teaching Assistant in Cell Biology/Developmental Biology while at college, and enjoy helping students learn so that they may be successful. I enjoy the sciences, especially Biology subjects (Molecular Bio, Genetics, Neurobiology, etc.) because they are very interesting and allow me to better understand an organism's body's functions such as a human's. I also am willing to help with humanities courses especially reading and writing as I have had a lot of experience having to write essays or read a variety of literature throughout my schooling. My teaching philosophy is to help the student succeed but to do it as a friend to them. I do not want the student to feel intimidated and to be comfortable in asking questions because I am here to help them achieve their goals. I hope to work hard with my students but to also have fun at the same time so that material can become more memorable in the future rather than forced. My interests outside of academia are reading fiction and nonfiction books, listening to music, going for walks in the neighborhood, playing the violin, and doing art. I like to stay as organized as possible with my time and have come up with study skills I am willing to share. In the end I want to do the best I can to help my students be successful with school and to be better learners for the future.
