What is your teaching philosophy?
Many students desire to improve in their Speaking and English communication skills. How can we actually apply our learning to help us to be effective in the workforce or in our given programs of interest? Superb clarity, delivery and expressed communication skills are a necessity in the 21st century. With a subject matter expert working with you, you have a superb opportunity to go from good to great! The instructor enjoys employing a hands-on approach to learning and strives to customize each lesson plan.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
In the first session, I typically will get a sense of the three phases of questioning. 1. Where are you presently? 2. Where would you like to be? 3. What are some tangible steps towards helping you reach this goal?
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
I think autonomous learning is very important. A constructivist approach allows the learner to access their understanding from their personal and professional life. This extends the ability to retain applied concepts.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Motivation is crucial for the intrinsic success of a student. I will always appeal to the learning style of the student and work within his strengths.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
If a student has a difficult time grasping key concepts, we will pause and re-structure the lesson.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
If a student is not grasping key content, we will use some simulations to bring the applied concepts to life.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
Interactive authenticity.
