Certified Tutor

I hold a B.S. from Morgan State University and certificates in ESL. For the last three decades, I have worked in many areas of the world promoting and teaching Healthy Lifestyle Practices, English and Administrative Skills. I lived, taught and traveled in Liberia, Ghana, Cote Ivoire and Israel. My experiences include teaching learners from Pre-Kindergarten to Adults. I continue to improve my skills in ESL through classes offered at MCAEL in Rockville and Montgomery College in Wheaton.
I have taught beginners, intermediate and advanced classes. The specific areas include reading, writing, grammar, speaking and listening. I have also taught classes using the Popular Education Method where the focus is away from grammar and directed towards life skills. This enables the student to leave the classroom daily with an idea that they can use in their daily lives.
My classrooms are ENGLISH ONLY environments. I am currently using a tool, Clear Blue, that I created as an incentive for students to focus on speaking English in the classroom. For many of the students, the classroom can be the only place where the students actually practice the second language.
