Greetings! I am offering one-on-one tutoring in a variety of subjects to young learners in San Francisco. I am available throughout the year to aid elementary and high school students with math, science, English and social studies. I also offer lessons in French, statistics and research/composition skills-- plus test preparation for SAT, ACT, GED and GRE.
I am an adaptable and communicative tutor, with a broad knowledge base and varied teaching experiences. After graduating magna cum laude from Georgetown University, I studied and worked on sustainable development issues in Washington, D.C. for several years. I am now pursuing a career in education. I have worked with students in a range of settings-- as a K-12 substitute teacher, an after-school program instructor, and a graduate teaching assistant in geography and economics. My time spent at the head of the classroom has granted me a great deal of patience for working with a range of learning styles, and a passion for creating positive learning experiences.
Good luck, and keep studying!

What is your teaching philosophy?
My philosophy regarding education is that each student has it within themselves to surpass what they see as their limits. I believe that each person is an individual, with their own strengths, interests and challenges, and is capable of overcoming learning challenges provided that they are taught in a way that incorporates their interests and plays to their strengths.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
In a first lesson, I first take time with the student and parent to learn about their background: which areas have posed difficulties, what subjects are easier, and the specific goals they hope to attain through tutoring. I then work with the student to assess their current level of knowledge, review materials currently assigned by their school, and discuss their learning style.
