I am a Sophomore Nursing Student at La Salle University, studying to graduate with my Bachelor's of Science in Nursing. I graduated from Central High School, class of 2010. I started tutoring almost six years ago. When I first began tutoring, it started with some family members and then I started tutoring some classmates. My favorite subject is math and I love to help others in this subject. I have experience tutoring in Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Spanish 1, and some English. I enjoy working with all age groups as long as you are willing to learn. Outside of academics, I love to crochet, bake, and knit. I also enjoy making arts and crafts. I am a fun, welcoming, and creative tutor and I cannot wait to start tutoring students.

What is your teaching philosophy?
I want the student to know that he/she is my first priority while tutoring. Patience and communication are key when building a relationship with the student.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Introduce myself and tell the student a little bit of information. I might also explain why I am tutoring and why I want to help. Then, I would allow the student to tell me some information about himself/herself, academically. Then I might ask the student what he/she likes and hates about the subject, so I can understand how to approach our tutoring session. We would then begin with what material the student brings, and practice some additional problems.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
I can help a student become an independent learned by gradually distancing myself. Instead of constantly providing assistance, I will allow the student to show me what he/she has learned from tutoring. By creating worksheets and practice problems, the student will build up his/her strength with the subject.
