Certified Tutor
I received my Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia and my Masters of Public Health, concentrating in Social and Behavioral Health Sciences and Epidemiology from Virginia Commonwealth University. Since graduating from my Masters program, I have been working towards earning a doctorate in Clinical and Translational Sciences, concentrated in Psychiatric, Behavioral, and Statistical Genetics.
While enrolled in my current program, I have had the opportunity to be a teaching assistant for graduate students studying statistics and genetic epidemiology methodologies. I also spend time volunteering at a local elementary school, where I assist fourth graders in math and science, and working as a private Spanish tutor for two elementary school students.
While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about science and writing. I find that students have different learning styles, so I try to incorporate that into my tutoring. It's important to me that students come out of tutoring sessions understanding the material and if I find that presenting the information in one way does not work, I'll work with students to find a different approach that works for them.
In my spare time, I like to read fiction novels and autobiographies, watch Netflix, and trying new recipes!
