What is your teaching philosophy?

My teaching philosophy is to practice the material you are learning. Practicing is like exercising the mind to become prepared for the task(subject) at hand, as well as lead to mastery of it.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

In our first session, I will get to know my student and figure the best way to approach the subject matter based on the students need.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

I am a big advocate for independent learning, as I am a perfect example of this learning style.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

I will keep telling the student to stay positive and reassure the big picture.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

I am very patient with the student. I explain any difficult concept thoroughly until my student understands it.

How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?

I allow them to read aloud initially until they feel comfortable reading on their own.

What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?

Practicing, and more practice.
