Certified Tutor

I have always shared my knowledge with others because it has allowed me to grow. When I was enlisted in the Navy, we trained each other which allowed us to advance to greater levels of responsibilities. I greatly look forward to tutoring and mentoring students at Varsity Tutors. I am a diversified teacher with extensive teaching experience in a range of environments. In addition to tutoring mathematics and sciences, I also tutor applied physics/physics. At my present job, I am an instructor for the DOD in the radiological protection field. On days I am off work, I have been a substitute teacher for Hampton School District and during evening hours I have been a tutor for Huntington Learning Center. I am particularly interested in tutoring mathematics from high school through college level. My goal in teaching is to empower students to become leaders and have successful careers. My philosophy to tutoring promotes critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration, communication skills and most importantly creativity. Because student/mentor relationships are extremely important to student development, I like to encourage students as early as elementary school to enjoy Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics so they will continue to peruse this interest at our Universities.
