I have been teaching 18- to 22-year-old students at the college level since 1995. I love imparting to them my own passion for the English language and its literary heritage, from Chaucer through our best 21st-century writers. I am particularly absorbed by the history of fiction, drama, and poetry in English, and I hope to continue to teach such love of the written word to curious students today.

I graduated from the University of Chicago in 2016 with a B.A. in English and Theatre. I then got my M.S.Ed from Northwestern. I have worked with children of all ages in various capacities, including teaching, and I find that the best way for students to learn is to have fun and engage them.... The trick is not only to find the approach that works for the student, but also to boost the student's own investment in finding the methods that work best. I believe a student learns best when choosing to engage with the subject on a personal level. In my...

I also think it is important to try and frame things in a context students are used to, so if that means watching She's the Man in order to understand Twelfth Night, then that's what we will do (although we do have to read the actual play as well). If that sounds like something you could use, get in touch!

I bring my bold and fresh teaching approach to all subjects and students. I have experience tutoring and/or taking coursework in all subjects listed. I have worked with students as young as middle school and as old as college.... The first session is the foundation for the wall of learning I plan to build in each following session. With this being said, I try to get to know the student very well in the first session. This includes getting to know the student's strengths and weaknesses academically but also the student's personal tastes. With the information from the first session, I am able to move forward with the student, achieving academic success while keeping sessions interesting. With a meaningful first session, the wall of learning is ready to be built!
