Find the sum.
The sum of a group of numbers is when you add them all together. Thus you need to add in column form all three numbers together.

A first-grade class went on a class trip to the circus. At the circus, Damya bought a hot dog and a drink. How much money did she spend altogether?
Damya bought a hot dog for 
First, add the tens together. 5 tens and 3 tens make 8 tens, or 80.
Next, add the ones together. 4 ones and 5 ones make 9 ones, or 9.
Double check your answer by drawing tens and ones, then counting all tens and counting on by ones:

Example Question #21 : How To Add
Orlando went to soccer practice at 10:30. It lasted for half an hour. What time did he finish?
If Orlando's practice lasts a half hour, or thirty minutes, the minute hand will move halfway around the clock, or thirty minutes. Since it started at thirty minutes, it will move halfway around the clock to 60 minutes. The hour hand will also move halfway between two hours. Since it's halfway between the 10th and 11th hour, it'll move forward to the 11th hour.

At the market, Javon decided to get some fruits and vegetables. He bought 2 tomatoes. How much money did he spend altogether?
Since each tomato costs 24 cents, Javon will need to add
