My Senior Yearbook Quote by Ysabelle - November 2018 Scholarship Essay
Being a senior comes with many privileges, one of which being able to have a quote put under our name in the yearbook. This quote isn’t just any quote, but one that is very meaningful to the individual. Having a senior quote allows for all the underclassmen and anyone else who flips through the yearbook to get a glimpse of what each senior’s personality is like.
Out of all the wonderful quotes out there, I would have to choose this to be mine: “There are big ships, and there are small ships, but the best ships are friendships.” I believe that this quote best suits who I am because I value the gift of friendship to a great extent. Throughout the years, I have worked myself up to gain the courage to create many bonds, both short and long-term. I have experienced friendships with people that have ended, and those with others that have lasted since childhood. All these relationships and connections I have made with past friends and new friends have made such a big impact on me, teaching me life lessons that I have never known before. It is safe to say that each and every friend, even those who come and go, still has a very important place in my heart, for they took the time and consideration to befriend me and get to know me as a person. Some may say that that is impossible, to remember every friend that one has made in their life, but to me, personally, it means a whole lot that someone had the desire to talk to me.
Without friendship, my life would not be where it is today. My friends play a very big role in my life, giving me the motivation to work hard, both in school and in whatever I put myself to do. For example, they are the ones who drive me to work on myself and to achieve my goal of becoming the best person I can possibly be. My friends are also my source of happiness and joy, since these are the people that I literally see and surround myself with every single day. They are all such genuine and fun-loving people who always make life an adventure, and the best thing about my group of friends is that we all care so much for each other; we’ve all gotten so close and made even deeper bonds among ourselves that we know for a fact that we all have each other’s back, which is always reassuring. There has never been a time where I was having a rough day and they didn’t cheer me up, but even on a good day, my friends still manage to make it a better day.
Even though I might not realize it, senior year is coming to an end very soon, and it is very important that I make the most of the time with my friends, since there is not much left. Graduation may seem like the end of my friendships, but I know that distance won’t break this family apart.
