Hologram Lectures by Yana - February 2018 Scholarship Essay
Although holograms are only starting to slowly inch into productive areas of our lives, by the year 2038 there should be live lectures.
Currently, my classes are live-streamed with interactive technology from another campus in a city 2 hours away. Why wouldn't we take advantage of an opportunity to have the most distinguished professors or researchers from all over the world live stream into other parts of the world? Education is a universal right and it should be shared, universally. Now why limit ourselves to watching a video of someone speaking?
Many of us are visual learners, and there's nothing like watching someone walk and shuffle around while speaking about what they are passionate about. These small "ticks" are what complete a lecture for me and help me remember and focus on the individual trademarks of each lecturer.
It can be difficult to watch a video of a lecture because it's not engaging, and that's what education needs more of - engagement. If medical students can watch a hologram presentation of a live surgery, there's a 3D engagement that would be more productive than watching a video or reading a paragraph.
Hologram lectures will dominant in the year 2038 because we need to start getting more involved in education with a more well-rounded understanding of subjects.
