Whole Circle by William - September 2024 Scholarship Essay

Whole Circle

In the recent years I developed an interest in the stock market as well as crochet. Both very unrelated hobbies. As I learn I utilize many different methods such as visual learning, listening, discussion, and reading. I find my sources on the internet from places such as stay connected, podcasts, YouTube, Discord, and documentaries. This gives me a variety of sources to choose and learn from, helping me to better fit my learning needs.

For the stock market I follow professors, companies, and big investors. I also have joined many groups that discuss the stock market such as r/daytrading, r/stockmarket, and r/investing. I searched for groups that had projects, games, rewards and competitions in these areas. Although I have to say that by far my favorite part is meeting people from different ages and backgrounds and learning of their experiences, stories in this interest that we share. From these interactions I can catch glimpses into other different cultures. These interactive cultural exchanges give me new perspectives allowing me to see a different side to the way a certain stock behaves. And it simply makes the learning process so much more fulfilling.

I watch documentaries, or programs like “60 minutes”, listen podcasts, YouTube, TedTV, Documentaries on streaming channels helped me go beyond. I love the internet and its almost limitless border. The biggest benefit I would say even I am working out; go somewhere I can tune in and while walking I can listen a podcast or a documentary or an e-book.

I also take some free classes from google and some paid classes like Udemy. You can choose the time, the environment, I love it does not mandate to stay or be in one location. There is a curriculum can be flexible as much as I want, and in my own pace. I can go over the materials, or go back again on a video, on an app to review, re listen without missing anything. And I love it is almost free or cheap.
Another favorite way for me learning is while teaching it to a new beginner. You go over your information while teaching and with active questions I realize I learn more than I do just listen others.

I can’t pint point on way is better than the other. I believe all of them are the part of a circle of learning. Listening from different views and different people, watching it and joining discussion, contestants and projects makes a whole.
