Having a Passion for Education and Learning by Will - July 2019 Scholarship Essay

Having a passion for education means having the ability to imagine a future. We often forget that life is full of learning opportunities. Each of us learns something new every day, whether we realize it or not. Our ability to grow intellectually, mentally, emotionally, and socially is often reflected in our daily activities and in the people with whom we come in contact with. Getting an education and learning is not merely what takes place in the classroom, it is an ongoing process that happens everywhere. As someone who is from a family of educators, I understand the importance of getting a good education. I also understand that life itself is an education. One just has to be willing to recognize, take note of, and apply the lessons being taught. Only then will we have a continual desire and passion for education and learning.

I am an incoming freshman at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University majoring in Sport Science and Fitness Management (Pre-Physical Therapy). My course curriculum will prepare me for graduate school and a successful career in my chosen field. However, in order to achieve my goal of becoming a physical therapist (or possibly a medical doctor), I have to have a passion for learning and the desire to continue to learn. If I can imagine myself as a physical therapist, then I can set the goals and objectives to achieve my dreams. The passion lies within me and my desire to help others. My passion also lies within learning from those who are already in the field and can teach me things about being a physical therapist that I might not be able to learn from textbooks or from sitting in a classroom. Ultimately, whatever one has a passion for, one will seek out and search. This is the process of learning, whether we recognize it as such or not. Education is an important part in helping all of us be successful and achieve our goals.
