Leading The Way To Success by Wehjla - March 2015 Scholarship Essay
The majority of Earth’s most respected and distinguished people have several personality traits in common such as being able to initiate change, encourage others toward a certain goal, and inspire a shared vision. They can model the behavior and skills that are necessary to attain the required objectives. These distinguished individuals are known as leaders; leaders are needed in every stage of life whether it begins in middle school, high school, daily careers, and especially in college.
Leadership skills are necessary for college success because these skills consist of motivation, commitment, risk-taking, ability to communicate, and awareness of planning. Those who possess this a leadership personality know how to encourage peers to achieve their personal best, maintain focus and conquer obstacles to reach goals, develop new ideas and different ways to solve problems for themselves and others to understand, comprehend to various input from others, and are able to orchestrate a high-level plan that will drive everyone toward the unified objective. The objective for college students would be to attain a two-year or four-year diploma at the end of their term.
Leaders are assets to themselves and others, they are able to provide important advice and bring about change for the common good by including others in the process. “Take a method and try it. If it fails, admit it frankly and try another. But above all, try something." - Franklin Delano Roosevelt. This philosophy means leaders aren’t afraid of mistakes but when met by a defeat will always come up with other ways to better the issue. Because of the fact good leaders are never satisfied with the position they are in they will be confident enough in themselves to enable others to contribute and succeed.
