Changing the Lyrics by Wakita - May 2016 Scholarship Essay

Everyone has their own way of studying; some more effective than others. Studying comes in all forms and varieties. It all depends on how the person likes to collect knowledge and keep it in his or her head. There is no wrong or right way to study. It’s up to you and how you perceive information.
One way that I love to study and is extremely effective for me is using music. I put on a playlist or leave it on shuffle and when a song comes up, I always change the lyrics. What do I mean by changing the lyrics? I change the lyrics on the original song with the notes on my papers. I sing the notes in my head instead of the original lyrics of the song. It’s very helpful and it can be very catchy if you have the right song. While doing this, I always go over it a couple times to have it memorized in my head. It doesn’t matter what song it is as long as you can keep it fresh in your mind. The song can also help you recognize the notes that you read along with. It’ll stay up in your head, especially if you sang to your favorite song.
The way I study is useful to me and much more effective for me. If you like listening to music a lot then this method can become very handy and it’s fun and gets the work done.
