Romans 8:18 by Wadgrika - November 2018 Scholarship Essay
My senior yearbook quote would have to be my favorite Bible verse - Romans 8:18. This past year has been the hardest year of my life. My parents have gone through a separation, I have gone through a serious depression, I got two jobs to help my mom out with bills, stress form high school and dual enrollment courses, the list just goes on and on. Romans 8:18 says, “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed in us.” This means to me, that all the stress, pain, and endeavors that I have received in this past year, will be exceeded by the success, glory, and happiness the next year will give me.
By this time next year, I will have not only graduated high school, but would have also received my Associate of Arts degree by completing over sixty credits of college classes. I will get into my dream school. Yes, I am speaking it into existence. I will get into my dream school and thrive in all aspects! I believe that God puts people through these hard times to test them and see if they truly believe in him and his ways. I’ve learned that even though times get tough, you should never discredit God’s Plan. This year hasn’t ended yet, and I am already seeing the positive changes in my life. I can’t wait for the rest to come.
I also would like to share with my peers that there is light at the end of the tunnel. I want them to know that giving up is not the answer. Yes, it may seem like the universe is not in your favor but trust the process. It is not always a straight shot up. You have to go through bumps, cracks, and edges to get to where you want to be. I believe that this Bible scripture explains all of that in a simpler way. I want this scripture to give my peers hope and have the same impact on them, as it has on me.
