My biggest adventure yet by Vivian - January 2018 Scholarship Essay
Adventure would be the word I would chose to describe why I wish to attend college. Adventure is described as exciting or very unusual experience. College is a new chapter in ones life if given the opportunity to attend. It’s where most discover who they really are and what difference they will make in the world. Some say college was the best years of their life.
College is a unique experience for everyone. For me, it will be a very different environment. I currently attend the Academy for Academic Excellence, also known as AAE. AAE is a very small school, it is a K-12th school. All of these students are on one campus. My senior class currently has 97 students. Our school environment is like a large family. Everyone knows each other and their personal lives very well. Personally, I do not like this kind of school environment. I would rather have a group of friends that know me well, rather then the entire school. Our classes and sports teams are limited due to our lack of student body. We have very little classes compared to other high schools in the area.
After I graduate I plan on attending a Cal State College. These colleges contain a very large amount of students. My current economics teacher, who also attended AAE, told us a story once. Once he graduated from AAE, he went to Cal State San Bernardino. He said his first day of college changed his perspective on life entirely. Our small school never has fights or protests, but his first day of college he witnessed a large protest. He had never seen a protest in really life before, he said after that day he no longer lived in our “AAE bubble” as he called it. Once I graduate, my transition from a small school to a large college will be my most biggest adventure yet.
