My Career Plan by Victoria - March 2020 Scholarship Essay
I sometimes wonder of I even have a plan at all. I’m going to be an entirely different person in ten years. Perhaps. But first, I know that I’m going to complete high school. Then go to a college or university for higher education to get a degree in some major or minor. There lies the biggest question: what career I will choose. I plan to go into a medical career.
Before I barrel into the medical field, I need to make plans as high school student. Foremost is to get good grades. Do my homework. Think about the colleges that I might apply to. I’m already involved on my school campus, but I could go further and join more clubs. However, I should slow down and think about my future. If I do things in the moment, I will regret it later on, and high school provides the perfect period of time for an unsure teenager like me to decide what I should do.
Then, hypothetically, I go to college. There are many universities to choose from and many more types of colleges. Whether a community, public, private, or vocational school I don’t know yet. But when I do get my diploma and head off as a college freshman, I will get a degree in medicine. Medicine has many fields and sub-fields. I plan to become a medical assistant. Or a nurse.
So if I do finish the remainder of my high school years which amounts to a year and go to a four-year college there are still five unknown and unexplored years in this career plan that I don’t have the faintest idea what I will be doing. Get a certificate, more training? Or get a bachelor’s, associate’s, or master’s degree? Maybe even reach for a PhD. I do know that I want to help people, and that I will strive to do so.
