New Beginnings by Victoria - November 2014 Scholarship Essay

Middle School and High School are two opposite learning environments. Not only that you are entering the big world, but this is where it mostly counts towards college. Middle school prepares you for high school, and high school prepares you for college. As an experienced freshman, i know what it is like to be lost and not knowing where and how things are. New faces, new teachers, and new learning habits will start to develop. High school is where the real world begins. One thing you need to know about being an incoming high school freshman is that to always challenge yourself in your academics, and everything else.

High school isn't as bad as it seems. It is not like the stereotypical movies where the jocks throw the nerds in trashcans. There may be people who will judge for the way you act and dress, but that shouldn't matter. Be who yourself , and do not change for others but for you. Change for the better, not for the worst. Prepare yourself for endless homework, quizzes, reading, and tests. Focus on grades because your freshman year is what matters the most. Nothing else stresses me, but to make sure to not slack the first year in high school. Once you slack, you can never go back. Trust me, it is harder to go up. GPA is your grade point average, and that is what matters in the long run. It is easier for your GPA to drop than for it to go up. Be a leader and get involved with clubs, because you could get scholarships and it also helps motivate for being a better person. Helping out the community looks good on college applications to see that not only being in school, but getting involved. If it is something that you are not familiar with, always shoot for it. Try new things because one day you will regret for not taking that opportunity. Starting off fresh in high school is best to start off anything you want to do. It is better to start your first year so you can do it throughout the rest of your high school years. By the time senior year comes, you will be prepared to move in to be a freshman in college. Work hard and never give up in what you do because it will always determine your future.

Freshman year is the most important year in high school. There may be endless advice to give an incoming freshman, but there is always one important one for everyone. Focusing on academics is the most important thing in your high school career, especially as freshman. Perfection may exist, but always look for for the new comings. Freshman year determines your future, career, and many more. Go out and beyond to your comfort zone, and take classes that will help you. It is not based if you're smarter than others, but it is based on your smart choices. High school is challenging for many people if you do not take it seriously.
