So Unforgettable a President by Victoria - October 2017 Scholarship Essay

Undoubtedly, I would choose to dine with the great President John Fitzgerald Kennedy. Mr. Kennedy was a man who was well-liked, well-respected, and well-known. He was as courageous as a lion, and his wit and humor could go head to head with the once world-renowned Red Skeleton. In times of need, Mr. Kennedy offered a kind word, honest advice, heartfelt aid, a hilarious wisecrack, or decisive action depending on the circumstances. He just liked to help people. Even with his Catholic background and young age, he still managed to successfully woe the American public with his charming character. And yes, he was definitely charming. In fact, I hear that he had crowds of girls chasing after him for quite some time before he married the right one!
Throughout his short life, Mr. Kennedy accomplished much. When World War II started, he joined the Navy and served with heroic valor. When his ship was sunk by Germans, his shipmates under his command and himself managed to make it to an island on a raft. That took guts to paddle though freezing nights. Hence, courageous, and I will add, tenacious. John Kennedy also served fourteen years as a Senator in Congress before he became the youngest president in United States history. After he was elected, Mr. Kennedy did many amazing acts. Among them is that he managed to avoid nuclear warfare with Russia when tensions ran high and blood ran heated. This was called the Cuban Missile Crisis, but thanks to JFK it wasn’t called the Russia-Nuked-America War.
He once said, “I look forward to an America which will not be afraid of grace and beauty, which will protect the beauty of our natural environment, and I look forward to a world which will be safe.” I cannot help but admire and support this long-gone man’s hopes and dreams. He was an amazing person, one whom I shall always admire and attempt to be as self-giving as he was. I would undoubtedly have been honored to share a meal with so unforgettable a president as John Fitzgerald Kennedy.
