Education's Gift by Victor - April 2025 Scholarship Essay
After high school, I would like to go to Marietta College and major in history. I will get certified to teach in 7-12 Education. I have already been accepted and plan to attend in the fall. I always dreamed of being a teacher and giving the gift of education back to my community, the way it was given to me. I am very passionate about my education, and can't see myself doing anything else but sharing it with others. Growing up I have always been very grateful for my teachers and how much they have done for me. I know first hand how much a good educator can change a student's life. I grew up poor and with a lot of emotional baggage. I had a hard time doing my school work throughout elementary and middle school, despite being regarded as a bright student. I had to rely heavily on my teachers for support and they helped me get through school. They encouraged me to find the strength to be able to stand on my own. Over time, I was able to and became a very strong student. I went from being truant my freshman year of high school to being a senior in National Honor Society and enrolled in multiple CCP Education classes. I hope I can make such an impact on even just one kid someday. I want to be able to help them turn their life around and move onto a brighter path too. To me, education is all about helping students prosper, and there's nothing else I would like to do. Additionally, I also have a strong passion for history and art related projects. I have been an artist since I was a kid, and have always had a love for historical topics. I would like to have a concentration in one of these subjects, so I can also share my passion for these subjects back to others. As someone who loves history and art, as well as helping others, it is clear to me that I need to go into Education, and that I will be a great educator. My educators throughout my life hold a lot of respect in my heart, and it would be an honor to go into the same career path as them. Education is a beautiful gift, and I'm so fortunate to have been one of those to receive it. I'm beyond excited to continue to learn more throughout college, and then be able to teach the next generation.
