My Goal as My Final Year in High School by Victor - August 2022 Scholarship Essay
Well school starts up by the time I am writing this in two weeks (August 15th) and I have to say I am pretty excited but also a little bit of despondency. I am excited as it is my final year in high school and will look to end my last year as an LAUSD student strongly and make sure I pass all my tests with an A bare minimum and obviously end all my classes with A’s. Although some people slack off as it is the final year of high school and for some the final year of their education I will make sure it is not me. While it is easy enough to slack off I always remind myself that I have worked way too hard to slack off in the final year of school. However this is easier said than done as when I get back to the rhythm of the rigor in some classes it gets very stressful and it becomes easy for failure to be the option I will not let complacency get to me as I view it with very negative eyes and I realize that I have to make sure I keep the momentum so when I start college in the fall of 2023. On the other hand it is a bit gloomy to say goodbye to high school because I have made all my best friends there. They are people I will never forget and I wish them nothing but the best. It is a bit sad to think about when I walk up those steps and receive my diploma because once those hats go up in the air will realize it truly is all over and the end of an era, if you will. Without a doubt it will get emotional but after all of that everyone goes their separate ways to figure out what they want to do in their life, and what goals they will achieve. Speaking of goals, let's get to it as I went on a bit of a tangent but I think it is important for me to recognize how far I have come from an only Spanish speaking kid when I was four years old in kindergarten to a nearly 17 year old teenager that will be approaching a career in the field of real estate.
My goals for the 2022-23 school year at Reseda are as follows. Whatever spare time I get I will be looking to look for help to make sure I pick the college or university that will fulfill what I need. Although it took me a very long time to major in, I picked the field of real estate and as I live in the state of California and from what I have researched, the best university for the field of real estate is the University of Southern California. I will be looking to apply for that school and send all the transcripts needed so I more or less have my future university decided. Around October my first priority will be filling out the FAFSA application as that is the one of the most important documents that must be filled before I go into university. All school year round I will remain as a member of the environmental club as when it comes to environment I consider it very important and in addition it counts to hours for community but I will also be looking to help out in the hospitals as a volunteer to help the elders and also look to volunteer in animal shelters as well.
Now as for my academic goals for the 2022-23 school year is simple. Make sure I study hard during the AP Government/ Political Science so when the AP Exam does come I will score a 5 and make sure that I send those transcripts to USC as if for some reason I do not end up liking real estate as much as I though, I am also fairly passionate about government, politics, and law. Another thing I will be aiming for is to score well on the SAT. Last year when I took the SAT it was anything but special as I got a score of 960, my goal is to begin studying rigorously for the SAT so that I can get to a score of 1200 at the least because although I consider myself smart in English and Mathematics there is definitely far more room for improvement. Furthermore another goal is to improve in Calculus. As I am taking AP Calculus it definitely seems more harder and a bit discouraging. I know that I can challenge myself and that as hard as it gets, as impossible as it may seem I will pass that class with an A. Maybe wishful thinking but I know my limits and I know that I can do it and also end up with a 5 at the end of the AP Exam. Lastly, my final goal is to just stay on top of everything and remain organized. Although I ended last year with straight A’s i definitely felt I was become too complacent but I will make sure that even though it becomes easy to fall with complacency to make sure that as hard it gets to make sure I don't falter and to end my career in LAUSD as bright as it can be.
