When I get to college, I plan on majoring in Early Childhood Development. This decision stems from my deep-seated passion for working with young children and my desire to make a positive impact on their formative years. Childhood is a crucial period for cognitive, social, and emotional development, and I believe that educators play a vital role in shaping the future of their students. By majoring in Early Childhood Development, I aim to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to support and nurture young learners, helping them build a strong foundation for their future education.

My interest in this field deepened when I saw my little brother's personal difficulties in school due to his speech impediment, apraxia. Watching him struggle to communicate and connect with his peers was heart-wrenching, but it also opened my eyes to the importance of specialized support and understanding in early education. Additionally, my experience as a peer tutor in the special education class provided me with a new perspective on the diverse needs of young learners. These experiences have inspired me to become an educator who can offer the patience, empathy, and tailored instruction that children like my brother need to thrive.

Choosing this major also aligns with my long-term goal of becoming a K-5th grade teacher. I believe that the early years of education are critical in setting the tone for a child's academic journey. By focusing on Early Childhood Development, I can better understand the developmental stages and learning needs of young children, enabling me to create effective and engaging lesson plans. Ultimately, my goal is to inspire and empower my future students, fostering an environment where they feel valued, supported, and motivated to succeed.
