The Willingness to Try by Vanessa - November 2019 Scholarship Essay
I believe that one way I’ve positively impacted my school is just by being an open and friendly person. While my school doesn't offer many opportunities for students to tutor other students, I always try to be approachable, so that if anyone is in need of help they will have no problem asking me. As someone who struggled with math a lot in middle school and the first two years of high school, I know how tough it can be to ask for help. The truth is, there is no reason to be embarrassed about asking for help with school work. We should all be working to make one another better scholars, that way, we can all work together to make the world a better place for the next generation.
I truly believe that I have positively impacted several people by simply being able and willing to lend them the help that they need. I don’t do it because I want to be recognized or rewarded. I do it because when I was struggling with math it was student tutors and teachers that helped me get back onto the right track. Without them, I surely would have fallen behind, and possibly would have failed a few classes.
In conclusion, anyone from anywhere can make an impact just as I did. They only have to be willing to try.
