Seek More Than Knowledge, Gain Wisdom and Relationships by Vanessa - March 2019 Scholarship Essay
Many students that are looking to get a higher education tend to spend countless hours studying to get As and spend their weekends volunteering for various organizations. Although those are what colleges look for in applicants, the connections you make on your journey to graduation and in life are what truly matter. If you get excellent grades but you don’t spend time studying with those around you and getting to know your teachers on a deeper level then what have you really gained? On the other hand, if you volunteered much of your time to your community but never made an effort to get to know those you were serving what have you done to shape yourself into a better human being? As a student you are always going to be busy. I advise you to take the time you have now to get to know others around you. After all, what is the world without being known or knowing others. Seek to be the difference in your communities.
In addition, teachers and professionals are looking to influence the younger generation and pass on their knowledge. It is important to gain insight from others in your community and especially those within your field of interest. You want to do more than just get the good grades, gain wisdom. Anyone can obtain knowledge, but it takes knowledge, experience and sound judgment to attain wisdom. Both Wisdom and connections will contribute to your success tremendously.
