Advice from the Soul by Tyson - April 2016 Scholarship Essay

Highschool is a place of many new people and experiences, you are given more freedom than middle school, but still feel like you have a hand guiding you through the process that eventually leads to you walking across the stage receiving your diploma, and going on with you life. I am a high school senior getting ready to depart for the crude awaking of the real world. Their are many thing that I wished I was told before highschool that could of helped me become more successful.
I wish I was told how important your Freshman year of high school is. Your first year of school can directly determine how hard or easy your next year of school will be. If you just go through it with the mindset of, "I got four more years", you might get left behind, and struggling in your next 3 years of high school trying to get your GPA back where you want it.
Also I realized that working to hard can be just as bad, I realize that school is suppose to be based on education and college preparation, but if you take school so serious and make it eat away your life, your not doing yourself no justice. You need to give your self time to breath, clear your mind, be able to enjoy your time left as a kid, that only last so long so you might as well embrace it. Before you know it, highschool will be over, you'll be on the verge to going to college or whatever your plans are after highschool and you'll only have memories from the past.
