A Mother’s dream by Tyler - October 2019 Scholarship Essay

The person that has inspired me the most academically is my mother. She has given me the freedom to pursue my dreams while also keeping my head level in certain situations. When times were rough my mother knows exactly what words to say in order for me to get back on track. Her faith in me has never wavered even in times of distress.

Since she wasn’t fortunate enough to experience the college life she admires the drive and passion that I have shown her over the course is my highschool career. Although she cannot be there every step of the way the amount of trust and pride that she has for me is enough to keep my priorities in check through all of the distractions and commotion in today’s world.

Her words of encouragement have been echoing in my mind since I was old enough to grasp the concept of her words.“Keep your mind open to different perspectives.”is one of the things she has told me. “Don’t allow the opinions of others deter you from your dreams.” Is another phrase that has kept me focused. Those are just some of the phrases she’s used to keep my attention on the task at hand. There are many others that still coexist within me today.
