Thinking Outside the Box by Tyler - October 2018 Scholarship Essay
To "think outside the box" means to be unique in your thought process and to think as an individual. It means to problem solve in an effective, meaningful manner that others would not consider. By "thinking outside the box", you separate yourself and show that you are intellectually superior.
"Thinking outside the box" means you show creativeness and offer a different perspective comparatively to others. This creativeness is imperative because without a unique viewpoint, it is not "thinking outside the box". This type of unconventional thought indicates a higher form of intelligence, and is beneficial when problem solving. It gives an individual a competitive advantage because they are the only person thinking in that manner.
"Thinking outside the box" creates intellectual separation and demonstrates a deeper understanding of the subject matter, by looking further than the question, and not taking it at "face value". It also means to stop doing repetitive tasks things that create complacency, and not replaying the same pattern constantly. It means to keep testing one's limits, and seeing how innovative they can become.
Although "thinking outside the box" is a cliche, it is a skill that gives the individual an advantage, and is coveted. it is a compliment to an individual's intellect, understanding of a subject, and problem solving skills.
