I am still learning by Triet - September 2018 Scholarship Essay

Me, as well as anyone, we all started out as a baby. From a young age, we started to learn to open our eyes to see the world, to start making noises when we cried, to growl or gurgle when we wanted something. As we grew older, we learned how to read, to write, to do things that older adults told us would bring great benefits when we grow older. Just like anyone else, I’ve been learning on a daily basis for eighteen years of my life. My parents have always taught me that there’s always new things to learn from the actions, from our life long friends as well as from the people we come in contact with everyday. Looking forward to 25 years from now, I can see myself still learning.
In 25 years, I’ll be in my 40’s. Any adult in their 40’s would think that they are old enough to have been learned most of the things that life has taught them, they think that they should take a break from their learning experience, and focus their life in teaching, helping their kids growing up. I believe that I will be an exception. Looking up to my parents when they came to America in their 40’s, they had no idea what the English language was; they soon overcame the language barrier and found themselves doing good in the American society. In my 40’s, I can see myself owning a business. As a business owner, I’ll have to learn to readjust my business as the market changes constantly. Moreover, I can see my company partnering up with international associates, and I would love to learn their languages to close the communication gap between ourselves; business deals would be much more easier if we as partners could see eye to eye. In 25 years, I can see myself having a family. As a man in the family, I’ll need to commit to the responsibilities of loving, honoring, and cherishing my wife, as well as my kids. In order for me to keep up with my responsibilities, I’ll have to learn to better myself as an adult so my kids can look up to me. It can also help me enhance the relationship that I have with my partner. I’ll need to take in advices from adults who have walked the path I’ll be walking on to improve myself everyday.
Twenty-five years is a long period of time from now. As a desiring learner, I’ll always seek new things to learn. I believe new learning experiences can lead to improved achievement, attainment and progress. The motivation of learning can also bring a greater enjoyment of learning for me.
