learning disability by Trevor - April 2019 Scholarship Essay
I struggled from k-5 to 4th grade trying to pass subjects and school. My mom and I would be at the point of tears trying to get my homework done and study for test. I would start studying the time I get my study sheet and I would know it inside and out by the time I had to take the test, but come test time I would draw a blank. I was suppose to be tested by the school district for IEP in second grade, but the ball was dropped. IEP is a program to see if you have a learning problem and in what area. Finally in fourth grade the did test me and found I needed help with my test being read to me one on one.
I have become more organized with my work now and hardly ever have to have my mom to help me,unless I am doing a book report. Also I have been on consultation since the first of my junior year. Everything seems to come much easier to me now. I make all A's in my engineering classes for past two years at the Career Center and A's and B's in other classes at school.
I believe and I am proof with the right help and support you can overcome any obstacle that is in your way.Thank you for allowing me to tell my story how I overcome my learning disability.
