Should Students Be Required To Study Abroad by Trevor - March 2016 Scholarship Essay

I dont think students should be required to study abroad for many reasons. Although going to another country could be fun and an adventure, but it also comes with a lot of downsides. Being away from your country for too long can lead to loneliness. Even with a friend out there, being around a new life custom may be too much for certain individuals. Phone rates and charges may be too expensive depending where you are in the country, which means you wouldn't be able to talk to your family freely.
Another reason is because some of the other countries don't have the same environmental rules as we have in the United States. Countries like China who don't have air pollution laws have air that kills thousands of people daily. Not only with the air, but they don't have the same food regulations as we do over here. So while you barely can breathe because of the polluted air, you are forced to eat food that you have to second guess because you want to live.
My last reason is that some people may not want to go overseas to study. Some people have no interest in going thousands of miles away for school. I know, speaking for myself, I wouldn't want to be required to go overseas if I didn't want to. Not only would you have to pay some of the costs, I just don't think I would have that much fun. There are places in this great country that I haven't even been to yet. Going to school abroad almost is like mixing the school year with a summer vacation, which means you may be lacking in one area. That may be the same reason why shampoos and conditioner 2-in-1s don't work, but thats another topic for another day.
