Many say that the improvements of technology have a negative impact on the upcoming generation, and it is setting us up for failure. In my opinion this is not the case at all. The improvements of technology have provided me great assistance in the classroom as well as improving effectiveness in my schoolwork. Recently, my school district provided the entire school with Chromebooks. They have given us a personal laptop sponsored by the school administration. The addition of this Chromebook was a great idea because it allows me to have a computer at home that can be used directly for schoolwork. Bolingbrook is a great community, but many still suffer from poverty and do not have a computer to use for our schoolwork. The library offers free computer use, but there is typically a waiting time. Having usage at any time has been a great opportunity to those families, like mine, that cannot afford individual computers or laptops.

I can also use the Chromebook in school during classes to look up solutions to problems if necessary. My teachers provide great information, but to really learn the material I must use outside resources, and many come from the internet. Having my laptop available to look up more information on the topics during classes helps my understanding and greatly benefits my test scores. I can say that the Chromebook has definitely helped my high school experience be less stressful.

I am currently enrolled in environmental science and I understand that the generation we live in has affected the environment and animals in negative ways. Realizing this, my teacher gave me a platform to do a presentation on endangered species and the impact that humans have on the environment. Using Google and other research websites, I was able to collect information and present to my peers via a PowerPoint presentation. I presented the information to my peers via animation and digital images to keep them interested throughout the presentation. The technologically based presentation provided information and encouraged them to help save our planet and contribute positively to society.

Technology has positively impacted my classroom experience and as it continues to improve, there will be more opportunities available to future students as well, and technology will lead the way in to great innovation and a more educated society.
