If there was an opportunity to design a new elective class, then gaming would be a great choice. A gaming elective could benefit students by allowing them to relieve stress, allowing them to socialize more, and giving them more free time.

Gaming is a great way in order to lose track of time and engage in activities that boost people's dopamine. Rather than doing school work every day, students could use actual enjoyable decompression time. They could release pent up stress and anxiety from exams and projects to play around with their friends. Which also allows them to socialize. Students may have a hard time finding time to speak to their friends, which could result in texting and distractions during class. If time is given to them to play and talk to each other, this could be prevented. This class would also give students more free time to do what they want, whether it is more school work or gaming with their buddies.

This class would be beneficial to many students' mental health and could be a great outlet for many of them. Rather than only having gaming be extracurricular and outside of school hours, it could be a great addition to students' schedules.
