Creating Moving Pictures by Timothy - August 2017 Scholarship Essay

College is not only the place to go to further your education. College is where you go to try new things, make memories and learn more about the world around you. Which brings the question, if I was a college professor, what new and exciting venture could I teach the kids over at my local college about and why would it matter to me? I’m glad you asked, If I were a college professor, I would be the looney that will teach kids about film and animation.
In High School, I had a teacher by the name of Santiago Acosta that taught me everything I needed to know about video editing and eventually animation starting in my Sophmore year. In that class, I learned how to use a Mac, made interesting creations with various programs including Flash and learned how to make movies with Final Cut Pro all from the comfort of home (As I myself have a Macbook with these apps). What better way to make my mentor proud than by teaching other students the basics of film making and animation?
Why would anyone want to take part in a film class you ask? Well, a lot of people like to watch movies or draw cartoons, some even dream of becoming film makers or animators themselves. If enough people join the class, I will be there to teach them the very basics of sound/video editing, art and animation and everything you need to know to get it ready to show to the masses, I could even show off my student’s films to the school in a film festival some day. It does not sound like much but if I don’t reach my goal of working on a cartoon for the world to see, I will be better off helping others reach their goal of doing the same. That is what I want to teach to the class someday.
