Playing the Game of Life. by Timothy - July 2016 Scholarship Essay
When you become old enough to buy a house, drive a car, start your first job or anything, you have to make a lot of decisions. Decisions such as "What is my first car going to be?" or "Where I am going to work?" and "How am I going to pay everything off?" Economics was the last class I took in my Senior year of high school and the final project was making a list of all the jobs, cars, and housing i'm considering in the future and finding out how much everything costs so I can pay everything off without blowing the budget.
In the "Game of Life", you have to keep a sharp eye on your budget when it comes to... pretty much everything! someone who works at McDonalds will not be able to afford cable, a cell phone company or a car without going over his yearly balance compared to say... an animator (who works at Cartoon Network), I realized that it was hard to hold a budget without making some sacrifices. I do not remember everything that happened during the "Game of Life" but I learned a great deal about credit cards, what jobs offer and how much a lot of necessities cost... Life is hard.
So, I would like to thank my Economics teacher for helping me learn everything there is to know about how complicated life is. I feel as though I am going to have some difficulty living my adult life out like I want to, but with that project, I have some insight on how my life is going to turn out...
No one said life was easy.
