Teachers Are Important by Tiffany - July 2016 Scholarship Essay

Nine months a year, five days a week, eight hours a day are when the teachers sacrifice their lives to make ours better. This demanding career is what helps shape us into mature young adults. Although, teachers don’t always get the joyful experiences from students, they still come to work with a smile smothered on their face. So, what is the most important lesson I’ve learned from a teacher?

To begin, I surely don’t have just one lesson. Throughout my 12 years being in school, I have learned an infinite number of lessons from many different teachers. One that stuck out to me the most was that teachers really do love their jobs. They don’t just come to work to obtain a paycheck. They earn it.

Teachers aren’t strict to just be a “stick in the mud.” They want us to know how important it is to be organized, do our work on time, and have the manners we need to get by in this world. The people who choose to be in this field don’t get the respect they should nowadays. Even though teachers are the center of the gossip discussion, they try to ignore that to still provide us with a positive attitude!

They really do care! Although teachers might have a family to pay attention to, they are still focused on us when they aren’t at school. Teachers are consumed with grading papers or planning the lesson for the next day while they try to find the time to take a sip of coffee. They are even sometimes stressed out about whether they are doing enough for their students.

Lastly, They think of us as their own children. Why else would they be concerned because you didn’t have breakfast that morning? Similar to our parents, they want us to succeed in life. All they want is the best for us. They motivate us to accomplish as many opportunities as we can! Maybe that’s why they get so strict! All I can say is, I wouldn’t have gotten this far without any of my teachers.
These are four out of the many lessons I have discovered from teachers in the past. My dream is to obtain this life-changing career one day. I hope I can become half of what my teachers were to me!
