More than Just Grades by Tiana - December 2016 Scholarship Essay
Imagine having a major test in less than 24 hours. However, you’re not home your at school assisting with a concert or you're out to eat with your family. Many people would be nervous or frustrated because they should be home studying. Personally I believe that individuals need balance. In life there is more than just school and work. You have families, social outings, and more. A person can be extremely intelligent but if they don’t have the ability to balance their life success will be difficult. The stereotypical nerd: boring, awkward, antisocial, intelligent, studies 24/7, and shy. Non stereotypical nerd: outgoing, selfless, intelligent, sympathetic. I am the non stereotypical nerd.
When examining my application you see excellent grades , and rigorous courses. You can easily identify that I’m an excellent student with a good work ethic. Grades, however, are not the whole picture there is more to me as a person than just grades. Grades are not the only thing that define who I am, but my personality, character, and drive for success define me. Throughout my academic career I have not only had challenging courses , but have engaged in other activities and courses as well. These clubs and events are time consuming and involve personal dedication , which may include completing task outside or school . The clubs that I participated in allowed me to utilize great attributes that I have . In ninth grade I was elected class president. Being class president forces me to interact with my peers , as well as many teachers in the school . This came naturally to me because if my bright personality. This allows me to get along , and work easily with peers as well as adults. It is not difficult for me to start a conversation with another individual.
In life it is important to have balance. Being that I have a nice size family you also has to balance school with family related activities. My greatest accomplishment in High School is being a well rounded student.
