My A-Game Plan by Theresa - December 2017 Scholarship Essay
School projects are inescapable. These projects usually take place over a longer period of time and are heavily graded, unlike your more conventional assignments. Which means that you are more likely to dive into the pitfalls of procrastination. However, before you shoot yourself in the foot I would like to suggest a five-step plan to help jumpstart your projects.
The A-Game Plan begins as soon as the project is assigned. Generally, your instructor will brief you on the project at hand, telling you the objectives and due dates. Now, this is where it is imperative to follow our first step: ask questions. If you are remotely confused about anything pertaining to the project or due dates, ask your teacher to clarify what is needed. It is better to get these inquiries out of the way now, rather than have it come as a problem later while working on the project.
Step two is to get started as soon as possible. If the project requires you to form a thesis and/or research question, try to knock that out one to two days after the project has been assigned. Also, form an outline that way you can have a tangible plan to refer to while working on the project. An outline will also help you break down the things you need to do, that will help you not get overwhelmed and to confirm that you have what you need ready for any due dates.
Ah, the dreaded due dates. This is where many students start to stress. It is a crucial part of your grade to turn any rough drafts in on the correct due dates. That is why step three is to be prepared the night before any due dates for your project. You may want to verify that you have a flash drive back up and a hard copy of your project on hand by placing them in your backpack the night before. This way you don't have to worry about possible issues turning it in.
Your fourth step is to make sure to proofread your final draft. For this step, it is best to have your project completed a few days before the due date, that way you can set it to the side before reviewing it again, so you can truly catch any mistakes from before. Another tip that helps a lot is to have a few friends in your class to peer review your project too, just in case the spot any errors you did not see before.
The fifth and final step is to turn your project in confidently. Be proud of all the work you put into your project. If you followed these steps you must know that you truly tried your best and that completing the assignment was an achievement. Your A grade will be a success story of the A-Game Plan.
