Non-leadership Equals Failure by Tessa - March 2015 Scholarship Essay
Going off to college is big deal! Not only do you have to find the money to pay for school, you have to pick a dorm room, get your books, make new friends, and even do little things like pick out your new sheets! There is so much physical stress that goes into getting a better education, but what about the mental side of things?
When attending a college, you have to have a certain level of leadership skills in order to be successful. That being said, being a leader means so much more than just taking control of a group of people and bossing those people around. Being a leader means that you know when to step up and do whatever it takes to get a job or project done. It means that you take pride in everything that you do and that you are capable of working with other people in a way that is respectable. If you want to be successful in school you must be a leader to some degree otherwise your school work will never get done and you will in turn not be successful.
Imagine if you are hanging out with some of your friends and they ask you to go out with them, but you know that you have homework to do. Someone without any leadership qualities would just go out every single time their friends ask because they are not willing to do anything it takes to get their work done, even if it means giving up a little bit of fun. If said person goes out every time they are asked, they will eventually fail out of classes which, of course, is not very successful at all.
All-in-all, in order to achieve greatness in school, you have to obtain some sort of leadership skill, otherwise nothing will get completed in classes and you will eventually fail out of school altogether.
