Being The First Ain't Easy by Taylor - August 2022 Scholarship Essay

Alone, I face the reality of life as a first generation college student. I have no one else's path to use as guidance as I strive for my goal of greatness on the campus of Mississippi State University. No one in my immediate family have been gifted many of the great opportunities and advantages of the world as I have. Though they haven't experienced the opportunities first-hand as I, they are the reason that I try so hard to set an example and be the first to achieve many great things. A goal that I have set for myself heading into this academic year as a first year college student is to be placed on the dean's list and remain there for the rest of the year.

I know the challenges ahead of me while I juggle my academic, personal and work lives is not going to be easy. But, I am sure that it will be worthwhile. I plan to execute my goal of making the dean's list by having great time management, steady focus, and with my familial support. I will be sure to have all of my work in on its proper due date and to communicate and excel in every area of my life.

Hardships and setbacks happen to everyone, however, I will not let my personal endeavors keep from both reaching and achieving my goals. With self determination and focus, all is possible. I choose to be the perfect example of that by reaching my academic goal of being on Mississippi State University's dean's list for all of the school year.
