The Morning Routine; The Happier Routine by Taylor - January 2019 Scholarship Essay
There’re two types of people in this world, the morning person and the night owl. When asked you probably would know exactly the type you are, because humans fall into an order of routine. The routine I fall into is wake up at 7 o’clock in the morning, eat cereal, and get ready for the day. I’m a morning person, and I still remember the six-year-old version of me did the exact same thing that I do today. It’s a matter of routine. I’ve made myself into the morning person I am today by giving myself a 10 o’clock bed time when my own parents didn’t even give me one. I learned from a young age that some of the most successful people wake up in the morning and start their days. Some of those people are Benjamin Franklin, Bill Gates, and Ernest Hemingway. It doesn’t matter what we have planned as our success story, if we want to be the president, an entrepreneur, a writer, a business executive, a doctor, and anything else in between, I’m a firm believer that the key to being successful in our future is by being a morning person and starting the day with a positive and clear mind set.
It’s important to realize that being a morning person sets me up for a happy lifestyle. Waking up early gives me time to plan out my day, get ready to the way of my liking, eat the most important meal of the day, and prepare for any obstacles that may come my way. I tend to try to do a dance workout and a stretch in the morning too, so I can get the energy flowing in my body. I’m always ready for a shift at work or an 8 a.m. class because my body can handle the morning with joy. I tend to see night people are not nearly as hard working, determined, or happy about their days as morning people are. look at my older siblings that work night shifts and I see them wasting their day away and not getting up until the next evening just to leave and go straight to work. I look at them as what I don’t want to do with my life. I’m the most driven in my family, the only one to volunteer in the community, the first to attend college, and the youngest to get a job. I’ve done a lot of research on how to be successful and being a morning person is always on the list. Each and every morning I wake up I write in a journal the things that I am thankful for, and what I plan on doing for the day, so every day has structure and motivation behind it.
There’re many reasons on why I’m a morning person, and maybe one of them could be because I’m scared of the dark, so why would I be a night person? (She said jokingly) But overall it obtains to the happiness and passion that I have when I wake up and see a new day full of new opportunities. I aspire that my routine one day pays off, and maybe I’ll be a writer of my own book or a CEO of a company telling you why you should be a morning person along with its countless benefits.
