Helpful Holograms by Taylor - February 2018 Scholarship Essay
Every year, every day there is some advancement in technology. Technology severely impacts our everyday life. It affects our jobs, our personal life, and even our education. Teachers use the new advancements in technology to make learning easier, more interactive, and more interesting for students. Using new technology can help our education system. Simply by using computers, teachers can have their classes online, place makeup work online, and even post grades. Not only does technology help students and our education system, but it also helps the environment by eliminating the use of paper. Overall, technology has been helping out society and the education system, and it is only improving by the day.
Often, technology advances because someone takes an idea that’s already been established and makes it greater. They improve it. Within the next couple years, I believe that holograms will become bigger in the technology world. A couple weeks ago, a hologram was used at the Super Bowl, providing the audience with a image of the icon Prince, during Justin Timberlake’s performance. Even though this doesn’t have to do with our education system, I believe it will encourage others to start exploring holograms, and trying to improve them for more excessive use. If the education system began to utilize holograms it could provide us with a variety of things. For instance, if a teacher was absent, they could teach their lesson and then provide the class with a hologram on the day of their absence. That way, the class is still learning the same lesson they would, without having to deal with the confused sub that doesn’t know anything about what they are learning. Lessons would stay on track, and the teacher wouldn’t have to stress about catching up their class when they got back. Holograms would provide a different type of learning for students, and it could even be used to teach them a higher level. If students are in an AP class, their teacher could show a hologram of a college professor, or if they are learning about certain body parts or procedures, they could show them the actual procedure. Students would be able to comprehend ideas easier and they would overall learn more than if their teacher was just explaining a procedure to them. Holograms would aid visual learners and would give the class an opportunity to feel like they are actually there. Overall, holograms would provide our education system with new ways to teach a lesson and would aid teachers in their lesson plans.
With all the new technology coming out every year, holograms should be explored and experimented with. They could be something great that would significantly aid our education system. They would provide students with a new way of learning a subject, and would aid teachers with their lessons. They could give students a better understanding of what they are learning. Overall, I believe holograms would be a new technology that we could expect to see a lot more of in the upcoming years, and I believe they will be in full effect by the year 2038.
